The Leadership in Education Administration Program (LEAP) aims to provide knowledge and applied skills to support leadership development focused on health professions education contexts. LEAP will focus on a variety of topics that will have value to faculty who currently are, or desire to be, leaders in health professions education, including: leadership theories/approaches, managing change and transitions, managing difficult conversations, building grit and resilience, managing conflict, negotiation and influence, funds flow and financial structures in academic medicine, and fundamentals of coaching, mentorship, and sponsorship. Each topic will be addressed through engaged learning activities using commonly occurring health professions education situations. 

If you are interested in applying, please hold the following dates on your calendar for didactics pending application review: 2/4/25, 3/18/25, 5/6/25, 6/10/25 from 1:30pm – 4:30pm. Attendance at each of the sessions is necessary to achieve the certificate. 

In order to complete your application, you must submit the following materials in your application: 

  1. Brief statement of interest in the LEAP Certificate program (do not exceed one page)
  2. Current Curriculum Vitae (CV) 
  3. Letter of Support from an individual in a leadership position in your Division or Department (e.g. Department Chair, Division head, etc.). This letter should include: 
    • The rationale for the applicant’s participation 
    • An agreement to provide protected time for this activity which will include the mandatory attendance for the didactic conferences

          Eligibility: Washington University School of Medicine faculty (including faculty in MD, OT, PT, PACS, DBBS and other educational programs)
